VILLAGE

VILLAGE shines a light on modern village life through photography, movement and writing. Burnham, Brill and Fairford Leys in Buckinghamshire feature as background and source for new visual and written stories that combine fantasy with reality. Choreographer Theo Clinkard and photographer Camilla Greenwell take their inspiration from Pieter Bruegel’s famous paintings of 16^th century Flemish village life, following their action-packed imagery for new collective portraits of today’s communities. Writers Ruth Quayle, Claire Fuller and Will Burns contribute new fiction and poetry. VILLAGE is beautifully designed with three fold-out panoramic colour images, and over 40 b&w photographs.

VILLAGE was commissioned by Bucks Culture and created with participation of over 500 local residents.
